There are so many treatments for acne but they are all not going to be as effective as each other. Honey is basically a natural moisturiser. It helps draw and lock in moisture to the skin which helps it stay hydrated, and hydrated skin heals faster. The main reasons it kills bacteria is the high sugar content, which means it's low in water and there isn't enough for bacteria to grow. The acidic environment of honey means that again bacteria don't have an ideal environment for growth. Honey is also low in protein which deprives bacteria of nitrogen needed for growth. As you can see honey has many properties than can help you gain acne free clear skin. Manuka honey for acne is reported to be more beneficial and more enhanced in the properties mentioned. |
